1 Peter 3:15–16
“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.”
Understanding this passage
Peter wants a ready answer and a gentle tone. A clear conscience and respectful speech are part of witnessing under pressure.
Why this verse helps
Persecution can make you either silent or harsh. This verse gives another way: hope, gentleness, and a clean conscience.
A prayer for you
Christ, be Lord in my heart. Give me a gentle answer and a clear conscience. Amen.
