Proverbs 6:16–19

There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

Understanding this passage

Solomon lists attitudes God hates, ending with the one who stirs up conflict. Pride, lies, and division are not small things to Him.

Why this verse helps

When anger wants to pick a fight, this verse shows that stirring conflict is something God opposes—not something He blesses.

A prayer for you

Lord, keep me from stirring conflict. Make my heart, tongue, and steps pleasing to You. Amen.
