James 1:6–8

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

Understanding this passage

James warns that a divided heart—asking God while refusing to trust Him—leaves a person unstable. Faith here means loyalty, not fake certainty.

Why this verse helps

If your mind keeps flipping between God and other hopes, this verse names the exhaustion. Wholehearted trust is what steadies you.

A prayer for you

Lord, I do not want to be double-minded. Settle my heart on You when I ask. Amen.
